We are pleased to announce a special screening of the film "We The Living" at 3 p.m. on Saturday, 21 August 2010, at the NCUI Auditorium in Delhi.
Based on Ayn Rands' debut novel, this 1942 film classic starring Alida Valli and Rossano Brazzi has a checkered history. It was made in Italy during World War II, without Ayn Rand's knowledge or permission and was based on an unauthorized Italian translation of the novel. Surprisingly, it was a cult hit in Italy at the time of its release, but was soon banned by the Mussolini regime.
Decades later, Duncan Scott helped restore the film and
re-edit it for release under Ayn Rand's guidance. The result is a stunning recreation of the novel that rivets you with its outstanding performances. The film is in Italian with sub-titles in English.

Thanks to a generous offer by Mr. Duncan Scott, the screening will be followed by a live interaction with him over web-video from California. This will not only allow us to learn invaluable nuggets on the making of this film, but also give us a rare opportunity to interact with someone who has worked closely with Ayn Rand. Mr Scott has a website on the film - We the Living Movie. One can read a brief history of the rediscovery of the film there - The Banned, Lost, Rediscovered: Ayn Rand's We the Living Lives on!

I am one of the aficionado of Ayn Rand philosophy. I have read two of her masterpiece i.e Atlas Shrugged and The Fountainhead.
ReplyDeleteApart from that I have also seen the movie "The Fountainhead (1949) whose screenplay is written by Ayn Rand Herself.
I wish I could attend the screen. I am so much inspired by her capitalistic and free market theory
I have written a review on Atlas Shrugged-
